Sheepfolds

Sheepfolds are usually out on the hills for the sheep to shelter in in bad weather. Pinfolds were used to impound stray sheep and are usually near villages. A few years ago, Andy Goldsworthy a celebrated local sculptor restored 6 Pinfolds and added a rock "Cone" in each. He also restored a number of sheepfolds which were visited by his "Arch". This classification lists nearby Goldsworthy sheepfolds and pinfolds and a few other nearby sheepfolds. There are over 100 other sheepfolds within a 20 mile radius of Kirkby Stephen.
